About Sharan

A forest hideaway in lower Kaghan

Sharan is a forest plateau on the slopes above Paras, just before Kaghan town on the Kunhar River. A rough jeep track climbs through dense conifer forest to a clearing with a rest house, a few small resorts and space to camp — and very little else.

That is its appeal. While Naran fills with traffic in summer, Sharan stays calm: the sound of wind in the pines, cool nights, bonfires and dark skies full of stars. From here, an early-morning hike leads up to Manshi Top, a ridge with wide views over the Kaghan Valley and its peaks.

Sharan is ideal for a short, restorative trip — a long weekend from Islamabad or Lahore — and pairs well with Shogran on the opposite side of the valley.
