A honeymoon in the mountains should feel like time stopped for a while: a quiet breakfast with a view, an unhurried drive, a sunset with nobody rushing you to the next stop. Northern Pakistan has some wonderful places for that — if you plan for calm rather than for ticking off sights.

What makes a good couple’s trip
- Fewer hotel changes: two or three nights in each place.
- A private car and driver so you travel at your own pace.
- One or two special stays — a lakeside room or a heritage palace.
- Shorter driving days, or a flight to cut the long road.
- The right season — shoulder months are quieter and more romantic.
1. Hunza: views, cafés and lakeside rooms
Hunza is the classic choice. Stay in Karimabad for walks to the forts and sunset at Eagle’s Nest, then spend a night beside Attabad Lake. In April the valley is full of blossom; in late October it turns gold.
Best for: couples who want comfort, culture and big views without hiking. Ideal length: 6–7 days by road, 4–5 via Gilgit.
2. Skardu: lakes and heritage palaces
Skardu pairs naturally with honeymoons: fly in, stay by the water at Shangrila or Kachura, and spend a night in a restored palace at Shigar or Khaplu. In summer, add a day across the Deosai Plains.
Best for: couples short on time who are happy to fly. Ideal length: 5–6 days by air.
3. Naran & Kaghan: a summer road trip
From June to September, Naran offers Lake Saiful Muluk at sunrise, the drive to Babusar Top and quieter nights in Shogran’s forests. Avoid Eid weekends, when it is crowded.
Best for: a 3–4 day summer escape.
4. Neelum Valley: green and peaceful
Neelum is lush and slower-paced. Riverside stays in Keran or Sharda and the walk up to Arang Kel make it feel far from everything. Accommodation is simpler, so it suits couples who value nature over luxury.
5. The Galiyat: an easy, romantic weekend
For a short trip, the forest lodges of Nathia Gali and Dunga Gali are an hour or two from Islamabad. Walk the Pipeline Track, hike to Mushkpuri, and enjoy cool evenings. See Murree & Galiyat.
Combining destinations
| Days | Suggested honeymoon route |
|---|---|
| 3–4 | Galiyat or Naran (summer) |
| 5–6 | Skardu by air, or Hunza via Gilgit |
| 7–8 | Hunza by road with a night at Attabad |
| 10–12 | Hunza and Skardu, flying back from Skardu |
When to go
For couples, we love late April–May (blossom, mild weather) and September–October (clear skies, autumn colour, fewer crowds). Summer is beautiful but busier; winter suits only those who love snow and cold.
Practical tips
- Book the special stays first — lakeside and heritage rooms are limited.
- Keep a spare day if you fly.
- Carry your CNIC (or passport) — hotels and checkpoints ask for ID.
- Dress modestly in villages; public displays of affection are best avoided.
