Dudipatsar (“milky lake”) is a high-altitude lake at around 3,800–4,000 m in the Lulusar–Dudipatsar National Park, above the Kaghan Valley. The hike to reach it is one of the most popular treks in the region, and one of the most demanding for first-timers.

Quick facts
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Starting point | Besal, beyond Naran on the Babusar road |
| Trek time | Roughly 5–7 hours one way |
| Typical plan | Overnight camp near the lake |
| Season | July–August (snow lingers into June) |
| Difficulty | Moderate to hard |
The route
The trail climbs steadily from Besal through meadows, forest and rocky sections, crossing streams. The final stretch to the lake is steeper and more exposed.
When to go
Snow often covers parts of the route until late June, and the lake itself may be frozen. July and August are the most reliable months, but afternoon storms are common — start early and be off the exposed sections by mid-afternoon. The park is closed to most visitors in winter.
Permits and park rules
The area is a national park. Entry fees and camping rules can apply, and a local guide is strongly advised. Rules may change, so check before you go.
