General tips
- Golden hours bring warm light; plan sunrise and sunset shoots.
- Autumn (late October) is outstanding for colour; see Hunza in autumn.
- Use a polarising filter to deepen skies and cut glare on lakes.
- Protect your gear from dust, rain and cold; spare batteries drain quickly in cold weather.
- Shoot the night sky at remote places such as Fairy Meadows and Deosai — very low light pollution.
Respectful photography
- Ask permission before photographing people, especially women, and respect refusals.
- Do not photograph military or restricted sites or checkpoints.
- Be mindful in religious places and during rituals, and follow local rules.
Drones
Drone use is regulated in Pakistan, and flying without permission, especially near sensitive areas, can cause problems. Check current rules and obtain permission before you fly.
Our custom trips can build in early starts and extra time at key locations for photographers.
